Password Viewers

Saving Passwords on IE, Firefox, Yahoo Messenger, etc helps you to easily access your account next time, without inserting your password, but this idea is no-good. Why? Read further to know the reason. If someone has physical access to your computer, he can easily see your passwords using the softwares mentioned below, and there are other ways of password-theft online.

What these softwares basically does is it finds the file in which the passwords are saved, decrypts them and makes them visible to the user. You can carry these softwares in your Flash Drive and use them on your victims.

Some good password viewers:

MSPass: Displays saved passwords of Messengers. Works for Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, Windows Live/MSN, Skype and many others.

IE PassViewer: Displays saved passwords of Internet Explorer.

Password Fox: Displays saved passwords of Mozilla Firefox.

Send Messages to Other PCs over LAN on Windows

Long since I’ve posted any PC tips, so here we go. This post will introduce you to the net send and msg.exe and tell you how to use it to send messages to other PCs which are connected to your LAN. :)

The net send command works for most of the versions of Windows upto Windows XP SP 2. Due to the use of the command for spamming over the WWW, this command was replaced by msg.exe in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

First let’s see how it works on the versions of Windows upto XP SP It’s really easy, all you need to do is follow these steps:

1.Run command prompt (Windows Logo Key + R, then type “cmd.exe”).

2.Type net send x “Your message goes in here between in quotes”, in this command, replace the “x” with the username of the PC on your LAN to which you want the message to be sent. And hit Enter.

If the user is on-line, your message will be sent or else an error message would appear.

3.You can also send messages to ALL THE PCs connected to your LAN at ONCE! To do that just type this command: net send * “Your message here!”
4.The star(*) in the above command tells cmd to send the message to all the PCs which are connected to your LAN rather than specifying one (including your PC also) :D
On Windows Vista and Windows 7

It’s the same thing as above, except the “net send”, you’ve to replace it with “msg”.

For example, msg x “Your message here” or (to send to all PCs) msg * “Your message here”

Please Note:

The ports used by these messenger services are 135, 137, 138, and 139. Make sure they aren’t blocked or the message will not be sent.

If you have any difficulty using any of these commands, please mention it in comments below. (or even if you don’t have, commenting is not a crime :P)

What is Social Engineering in the field of Hacking?

Social engineering is defined as the process of obtaining others passwords or personal information by the act of manipulating people rather than by breaking in or using technical cracking techniques. Here I will show you an example on how social engineering works
Example 1

Robert (Hacker) calls Michael and pretends to be a Google employee, Here is the
conversation:

Robert: Hi Michael I am Robert a Google employee

Michael: OH How are you doing?

Robert: Me fine. I am here to inform you that Google is performing a security update on all Google accounts and we therefore need to install those securities updates on
your account.

Michael: Yes kindly install those security updates.

Robert: Thanks for your interest in our security updates we will require your account
password for installing it.

Michael (Victim) has become a victim of social engineering, he will give out his password thinking that the person whom he was chatting was a Google employee.

Note: The Hacker will create an account similar to

Googleupdates(at)gmail.com
Securityupdates(at)gmail.com

Example 2

You may receive an email from saying that your computer is infected with virus and to eliminate this virus you need to install a tool. The tool will not eliminate virus from your computer but instead it will give access to your computer and all data stored on
it.

Remember: Never give out details, or secure information such as your passwords. Use passwords that aren’t anything to do with your age/DOB/FirstName/Surname etc. All of that can be found too easily.
